Minecraft 26.3 has 22 music discs. Twelve are the original C418 tracks, and ten came later from Lena Raine, Samuel Åberg, Aaron Cherof, Amos Roddy, Hyper Potions and fingerspit. Each one has its own way in: most of the C418 discs only drop when a skeleton kills a creeper, while the newer ones hide in specific structures, trial chamber vaults, or two very specific mob kills.
Below is where every disc comes from, with the chances the game actually uses.

The creeper discs: get a skeleton to do it
Ten discs (blocks, chirp, far, mall, mellohi, stal, strad, ward, 11 and wait) cannot be found in any chest. The only way to get them is to have a creeper killed by a skeleton. 13 and cat come from the same pool too. When that happens the creeper drops one random disc from these twelve.
The kill has to be the skeleton's. A creeper you kill yourself drops gunpowder, not a disc, even if a skeleton hit it first. These also count:
- Strays (snowy biomes) and bogged (swamps, mangrove swamps and trial chambers) are skeleton variants, so their arrows work the same way.
- Parched, the desert skeleton variant, counts as well.
How to set it up in survival:
- Find a skeleton and a creeper at the same time, usually at night or in a dark cave.
- Stand so the creeper is between you and the skeleton. The skeleton aims at you and the arrows hit the creeper.
- Do not hit the creeper yourself once it is low. Let the arrow land the last hit.
For a full collection, building it on purpose is faster than waiting for luck: put a name tag on a skeleton so it never despawns, keep it in a spot where it can shoot along a corridor, and feed creepers through that line of fire. A creeper farm gives you the steady supply of creepers. Each disc is random from the pool of twelve, so expect duplicates long before the last one shows up.
The structure discs
13 and cat are the easiest discs to find in chests. Their chances per chest:

otherside is the rarest of the chest discs:
| Structure |
Chance per chest |
| Ancient city |
8.4% |
| Dungeon (monster room) |
3.1% |
| Stronghold altar chest |
2.5% |
Ancient cities are the best single place for discs: 13, cat, otherside and disc fragments all come from the same chests. They sit in the deep dark: sneak everywhere, carry wool to place over sculk sensors, and read up on the sculk lore while you are down there. For the stronghold route, see how to find a stronghold.
Pigstep only comes from bastion remnants in the Nether, with a 5.6% chance in the general bastion chests. Expect to loot several bastions. Gold armor keeps piglins calm while you walk around, but opening a bastion chest angers nearby piglins anyway, so clear the area or be ready to fight.
Disc 5: craft it from fragments
5 is the only disc you craft. Ancient city chests hold disc fragments (29.8% per chest), and nine fragments in a crafting grid make one disc 5. Collecting nine can take more than one ancient city.
The trial chamber discs: Precipice and both Creators
Trial chambers hold three discs, each from a different source:
- Precipice: 3.6% from normal vaults and reward chests.
- Creator: 7.5% from ominous vaults, which you open with an ominous trial key during an ominous trial (drink an ominous bottle before entering).
- Creator (Music Box): 1.4% from decorated pots. Break every pot you pass.
Vaults give each player one reward per vault, so these discs are renewable only in the sense that new trial chambers and new players mean new rolls.
Relic: brush the trail ruins
Relic comes from brushing suspicious gravel in trail ruins (8.3% from the rare loot pool). Bring several brushes, brush every suspicious gravel block, and check the rare finds: it sits alongside the pottery sherds and armor trims.
Tears and Lava Chicken: two strange kills
Tears always drops from a ghast killed by its own fireball after you send it back. Hit the incoming fireball with your hand, a sword or an arrow so it flies back at the ghast. If that deflected fireball lands the killing blow, Tears drops. A ghast killed any other way does not drop it.
Lava Chicken always drops when you kill a chicken jockey, the rare baby zombie riding a chicken. The rider has to die before the chicken for the disc to drop.
Bounce: sulfur cave mineshafts
Bounce is the newest disc. It is found in mineshaft chests that generate inside sulfur caves, with a 42.1% chance per chest, the best odds of any disc in the game. If you find a sulfur cave with mineshaft corridors running through it, check every chest minecart.

Jukebox signal strength for every disc
A comparator reading a jukebox gives a different signal for each disc, which is how disc sorters and music room displays work. More on comparators in signal strength explained.

The fastest order to collect them all
- Dungeons and the skeleton trick early: 13 and cat from dungeon chests, then start the creeper pool with any skeleton you find.
- Trail ruins for Relic as soon as you have brushes.
- Trial chambers for Precipice, Creator (Music Box) and, once you have ominous keys, Creator.
- The Nether: Pigstep from bastions, Tears from the first ghast you can deflect a fireball at.
- Ancient cities for otherside and the fragments for 5.
- A sulfur cave mineshaft for Bounce, and Lava Chicken whenever a chicken jockey shows up.
- The skeleton and creeper setup last, to finish the ten creeper-only discs.
Once you have the set, the jukebox is about to get better: in 26.4 Snapshot 4 a chest placed on top of a jukebox turns it into a playlist that plays every disc inside in order.
