How to play Craftle

You see the item of the day. Pick an ingredient from the list, tap the slots of the crafting grid to place it, and press Craft. Each slot lights up to show how close you were, and you have six tries to get the whole recipe right.

All 219 recipes come straight from the game's own data, from the crafting table and the furnace to beacons, pistons and netherite blocks. Finished? Try Itemdle or Mobdle, or see this week's leaderboard.

Frequently asked questions

What is Craftle?

A daily Minecraft puzzle in the style of Wordle. Every day one craftable item is picked from 219 recipes, the same for everyone, and you have six tries to lay out its recipe on the crafting grid.

What do the colours mean?

Green: the right ingredient in the right slot, or a slot that should stay empty. Yellow: the ingredient is in the recipe but belongs in another slot. Grey: the ingredient is not in the recipe, or something should go in that empty slot.

Does the position on the grid matter?

Only like it does in the game. A recipe smaller than 3x3 works anywhere on the grid and mirrored, so your guess is compared with whichever placement it matches best.

Which planks or coal do I use?

Any. Where the game accepts any planks, logs, wool or coal, Craftle has a single ingredient for it, so you never have to guess the wood type.

Is there a hint?

After three tries, the ingredients that are in the recipe glow gold in the list.

When does the recipe change?

Every day at 00:00 UTC. Practice mode gives you random recipes whenever you like.
